Just a quick FYI – all my books listed on Smashwords are half off through the month of July: https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/kathybain. Now on with the blog.
Playing the Victim
A lot of us have issues. Some live with illness, some have a lot of stress in their lives, and there are those who hate their jobs. Too often these days, people complain about everything, and they refuse to take responsibility for any of their decisions.
American credit card debt reached a
whopping 931 billion in 2017.
I’m in debt, through every fault of my own. I’m the one who ran the credit cards up, yet others will blame the fact that they don’t make enough money. The reason you’re in debt is that you spent more than you made. You lived beyond your means, so did I. If you need more money, get another job or get a job that pays more. It’s that simple.
Jesus himself could have played the victim quite easily. After all, His friends deserted him, those who He healed disappeared, and though He’d committed no sin, He was the one punished. So many times He could have blamed others for His situation, yet He didn’t. Instead, He turned to God for His answers.
Luke 5:16 tells us that Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. And we should do the same. Whether the situation is our fault or the fault of another, we should always turn to God for answers and peace.
The problem that we have with a victim mentality is that we forget to see the blessings of the day. Because of this, our spirit is poisoned instead of nourished. – Steve Maraboli, author
The more we play the victim, the less we feel God’s joy. Jesus is the only way to stop our pain and to help us face our issues head-on. He can help you overcome debt, erase stress from your life, and find peace during a serious illness. All you have to do is pray and rely on God.
The old “why me” complaints need to be buried. With God’s help, you can overcome anything. Right now, I’m working with Dave Ramsey’s plan. I know I’ll eventually see the end to my debt. You can overcome your obstacles also. In time, you’ll realize that all that complaining and stress you put yourself under is behind you, and only good days lay ahead.
If you or someone you know are in need of prayer, please let me know, and I will be happy to pray for them.
