God Knows What You Need

Sunday before last started out as not one of my better days. My sciatica acted up ten minutes before leaving for church. When I stood up, pain shot through my left leg, and I couldn’t walk. It finally subsided but I became flustered because now I was late.

Once at church, I pulled crooked into a parking space. The one ahead of me sat empty, but in order to get to it, I had to drive around part of a light pole that sat in a portion of the space. Whose idea was that? I thought I had more room than I did and scratched my car going around it. So now I’m flustered and my car is marked up. The devil was really messing with me that morning.

During the music, I tried to get myself calm. Nothing seemed to work. Then one of the pastors said a prayer for those feeling overwhelmed. How did he know?

God is amazing. He knows what you need when you need it. In Psalm 37:23-24, If the Lord delights in a man’s way, He makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with His hand. God will always lift you up when you feel you’ve hit the ground.

That’s the way I felt after that prayer. Uplifted. It was like God was telling me everything was going to be all right and he had control of me.

By the way, my accident just proved my point that a man designed the church’s parking lot. Putting a light in the middle of a parking space is like placing a lamp in the middle of a living room. A woman just wouldn’t do it.

Amen!! (And you are right about the lamp post, too!).
