When you want something in your life, do you wait on God’s timing? Or do you try to make it move faster. Doesn’t it seem every time you try to make something happen on your time it turns into a mess? Maybe you wanted something so bad you bought it without waiting. Now financially you’re struggling. Or if a writer, you chose to self-publish but didn’t get your book edited professionally so now it’s full of errors. I’m a big one for that financial thing.
The Bible is full of people who worked in their own time. Look at Abraham and Sarah who wanted a child. Sarah couldn’t have children so she gave her maidservant Hagar to Abraham to conceive children for them. Genesis 16:2 reads “so she said to Abram, “The Lord has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my maidservant; perhaps I can build a family through her.” Once she was pregnant, Hagar despised Sarah. Sarah hated Hagar and ran her off. The whole thing turned into a mess.
We need to listen and wait for the Lord to give us what we want. He’ll know when we’re ready to handle it. If he doesn’t give us our desires, there’s a reason for it. We might never know why, but He knows.
Share with me what type of messes you’ve created by moving in your time and not God’s. Were you able to put it right? If you waited for something, tell us about that also. Some of us, who shall remain nameless (me), need to learn more about that waiting thing.
I swear, Kathy, that you wrote this blog today from conversations that we have had. You seem to know exactly how I am feeling right now. See you tomorrow.
