Letting Go

I took my youngest to college the other day. I was fine until I got about an hour away. A voice inside me started saying you left Jessica behind. She’s too young to be out there in the world by herself. It took a lot of power not to turn that car around and go get her.

Letting go is not an easy thing to do, whether it be our children or our lifestyle. We get comfortable going to the bar and seeing our old friends. Or hanging out with that woman who’s foul mouth we’re used to. But if we want to change and move forward with God, sometimes we have to leave our old life behind.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

When you turn to God, you turn from your old ways and want to walk in His ways. That might mean turning away from old friends or going in a new direction with your life.

Change can be scary. However, if it’s God’s plan, He’ll help you through. And no matter what or where the journey might take you, God is always with you.
