How do you get through when your faith in Christ comes in conflict with your emotions? A friend’s mother passed away a couple of days ago. She visited her every day and watched her deteriorate, yet she stayed true to her faith. She has great strength in God’s love.
Some people aren’t so lucky. Something terrible happens and they wonder where God is. We don’t always realize that no matter how hard we pray, the answer might not be the one we’re hoping for. But don’t think for a moment God is not there sitting beside you, waiting to hold you. He doesn’t want you to give up just because you didn’t get what you wanted.
Remember there is an afterlife. There is a place where you will be reunited and see each other again. Neither pain nor illness will be an issue. Revelations 21:4 reads, He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
Hold tight to God when you feel you can no longer go on. When you feel the road is too rocky and you just want to let go, remember God is there to carry you. And let others know what you’re going through so they can pray for you to have strength. There is power in prayer.
I pray every night that my friend Beth feels God’s arms around her during this terrible time she’s going through. One day she’ll be able to look back and recall all the fun she had with her mother. And one day, in Heaven, she’ll be running into her mother’s arms.
