Who is the Head of Your Household?

It’s tax season and all the fun that goes with that. One of the questions we’re asked on the form is are you married, single, widow(er), or head of household? It got me wondering. While I am the head of my household according to the IRS, is it me or God who is the head of my household in life?

That was not an easy question to answer because I like to do things my way. Just ask God. And boy do I know how to make a mess of things when I don’t let Him be in charge.

Bible verse Romans 8:14 reads, For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. If we are His children, then He is our Father, or the head/leader of our homes. His job is to lead us in a direction that is best for us. We just need to learn to listen and do it His way. Not an easy thing when you’re headstrong and independent like me.

We all need to take a step back and let God run the show. He wants to be the head of our households, even if there’s not a place to label Him such on a tax form. If we let Him lead, like we should, things will run smoother.

If you don’t want to do it God’s way, that’s all right. He’ll wait until you mess it up real good. Then you’ll have no choice but to crawl to Him for help.
