What is it that you use to get high? Do you get high on a song? Food? Too many people today find their high in uncontrolled substances. Drugs are rampant in our culture. Singers take them and O.D. Young kids commit crimes to get more. The problem is that once you get that “high”, you want another. When it doesn’t come, you need to buy more drugs or something stronger. Why are we always trying to find something in the world that we can only find inside ourselves?
It has always appeared funny to me that when someone comes to Jesus after being on drugs, people find ways to insult them. They call them Jesus Freaks, religious nuts, etc. Wouldn’t it be better for people to get high on Jesus than drugs? I’d rather have someone spouting Bible verses than robbing a convenience store.
The purchasing of drugs is the biggest problem in this country. It’s what takes most of our resources including costs for prison, police, and kids not being cared for. Drug dealers have no trouble finding buyers when there are so many unhappy people in the world. Too many of us think there is more to life than what we are willing to put in it.
As long as we are looking for something to give us that lift in life, we will never be happy. We need to look to ourselves. Realize that outer substances can’t get you through life. Only your heart and soul can. You need to form a relationship with Jesus not the meth pipe.
Parents need to raise their children the way they should be. Proverbs 22:6 reads, Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.Stop neglecting your children so you can be with your friends and use drugs. Now, you might say “I don’t do drugs”, but don’t you think getting drunk every weekend applies. Or using food to make you feel better? You’re teaching your young ones that they need something other than Jesus to make them feel good about themselves. 
Telling your children to stay off drugs is easier when you aren’t using a substance yourself, whether it be alcohol, food, or cocaine. It’s also easier to get them to find faith in Jesus if you have that yourself. And the only way to prove your true faith is to live like you will be brought before God tomorrow.
The devil has a stronghold on this country with the drug problem. The only way to beat him is with God. He will fulfill your life more than any drug ever could.
