Do you know how much you’re worth to God? Millions? Trillions? How about one son? Yes, God loved you so much that he gave his son for you. Would you do the same?
If God asked you to give Him all your money, would you do it? What if he asked you to give up your home, travel to a foreign land, and do mission work? What if he asked you to give up one of your children?
It’s an easy answer when you think it won’t happen. After all, what are the chances God will ask you to give up your son for him? Ask Abraham. In Genesis 22:2, God said to Abraham, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” Abraham trusted God so much he was willing to sacrifice Isaac. However, God changed his mind before Abraham had to kill his son. Imagine how Sara felt when she found out what Abraham almost did.
Do you trust God that much? The way to tell is to determine where your focus is when it comes to making decisions. Do you ask God to help with major decisions? If you’re offered a job that pays more, where does God fit in to the choice of whether to accept or not? It’s always tempting to take the bigger paycheck, but what if God has other plans and wants you to stay where you’re at right now?
How about moving into a larger house? It’s always nice to have more room. But maybe you don’t like to vacuum and dust, and God knows a bigger house would only make you miserable in the long run.
If God tells you to stay put, would you listen? It’s not always easy. What if God told you to use the money you have in savings to start a homeless shelter? Would you be willing to follow God on this venture, even if it meant giving up your current job and all the money you have?
These questions are not always easy, but people make them every day. Going to a foreign land to spread the gospel is not easy. There are countries where being a Christian is illegal. Just ask Saeed Abedini. He’s an American pastor sentenced to eight years in an Iranian prison because of his Christian beliefs. Sometimes the choice to give God all He’s worth is not easy. But once you give Him your all, you will find that there is nothing you can’t do.
