The housing market is finally starting to make a comeback. New houses are being built. There are more purchases and sales daily. When buying a home, you need to be aware of any problems with the structure or your new house could end up becoming a nightmare.
The one thing you want to be sure of is that your home is built on a firm foundation with solid walls and a great roof. That is the same with our lives. If we build our lives based on something weak, we will eventually see everything destroyed just like a poorly built house if a hurricane came by.
We need a strong foundation in order to feel secure. Something we can base our beliefs and morals on. The Bible has the principles required to get us through each day. Building your life around Jesus will ensure that no cracks will appear. During the hard times, we will have something firm to stand on in order to get us through.
So build your life on the firm foundation of the Rock. Matthew 7:24-27, reads, “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” Without a firm foundation, nothing can stand.
Once we have that sturdy foundation, we must make sure the walls of our lives are solid. They have to protect us from the outside world. Prayer is like well-built walls of a house. It is our way of connecting with God. Prayer keeps us under God’s watchful eye and does not allow the elements from penetrating.
Finally, you need something solid overhead. A roof that leaks will only destroy the rest of the building. A belief that is only half-way will allow our lives to not be lived to fulfillment. If you don’t have a strong relationship with God, you’ll eventually cave in on yourself and allow the rain in.
Only with a strong structure based on God’s word will you have the warmth and comfort you crave inside. Read your Bible daily, pray to God often, even in the most minor of situations. Hold on to God at all times.
A firm faith in God is the only way to keep the outside forces from breaking through the exterior. Like a well-built home, it allows your family to feel safe and secure.
Right on target, Kathy. We need the foundation of faith and trust in
God to see us through all of life. It’s amazing the things we can
endure and overcome when we let Christ in and follow his teachings.
