God’s Plan

This past week, our church lost a couple to a fire. Sometimes we don’t know God’s plan, but we must trust Him. I am reposting a blog from December 9, 2013 that I hope will help with any hardship you might be going through.

God’s Plan

 Christians are not immune to hardships. Some lose their jobs, some their homes. It’s hard to fathom what God’s plan is when we are going through trials and tribulations. At times, I’m not sure it is God. It might be the devil trying to drive a wedge between you and your Father.

Satan likes nothing more than to kill a Christian’s faith. That’s why reading the Bible is so important in times of strife. A great Bible story to focus on is that of Job. He lost everything including his children. His wife told him to “Curse God and die!”. Job’s reply in Job 2:10 was  But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.

Job lost everything, yet still praised God. That can’t be an easy thing to do. But if you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, He will help you through anything. God’s love is unending, and He hates to see you suffer.

Sometimes you have to go through a hardship to grow into a deeper relationship with Him. He might have a plan you don’t realize. There might be a bigger reward around the horizon you can’t see during your suffering. You just have to keep your faith like Job did. And he was rewarded for it.

Whatever the reason, rest in the assurance God loves you and is there with you while you’re going through the rough spots. He is there to walk beside you during the peaks and to hold you during the most destitute of times.

And valleys are what give you a better relationship with God. It is then you learn to depend solely on him instead of yourself. If you only live with joy in your life, you might come to think you are responsible for the good times, instead of Him. When you go through a hardship, and you realize that the Lord is the only one who can get you through, that is when your faith is deepened.

During terrible times, keep your head up and your eyes raised to Jesus. Read your Bible. It will give you strength to carry on. Job lost everything, his wife, children, and home, yet he kept his faith. God rewarded him with a better wife, more children, and a larger home.

Everyone goes through bad times, whether due to our own actions or those of others. But, you’ll eventually walk through the valley. Don’t forget, once you get back on top of that mountain, praise God for carrying you.

And if it weren’t for depths of the valleys, we would never come to appreciate the view from the mountaintop.
