Watch the Voices

I am so glad the election is over. I thought once done, we could get back to our normal lives, but then the protests erupted. And then I read an article from screenwriter Aaron Sorkin regarding Donald Trump winning the election. He apparently wrote a letter to his daughter that has been circulating. He, of course, like a lot of others in Hollywood labeled Donald Trump a sexist.

I have a question for you Mr. Sorkin. Why did Hollywood allow such a man to exist in their midst for so long? And how many other are there that we Americans are not aware of? If Mr. Sorkin is so appalled by Mr. Trump, shouldn’t he go after the men who use the infamous “casting couch” for sex with others? Most Americans have little doubt if Donald Trump had run on the Democratic ticket; there would have been no complaints. If not, Mr. Sorkin would be making it his duty to go after the other sexists in Hollywood.

I don’t care who you vote for, the hypocrisy of Hollywood should irritate us all.

It was so funny to realize that all the clichés about Hollywood were true, … There was the casting couch. There was these dirty old men who would say, “Can you lift your skirt up a little higher darling? We’d like to see your legs. How about dinner tonight?” That’s what I started to write about. – Jackie Collins

Hey, Hollywood elitists, if you want to stop sexism, start behind the closed doors of your studios. If you want to stop guns from killing, start with your violent movies and television shows. You can’t expect any better from others than what you are willing to do yourself.

That’s the problem with the United States right now. We expect everyone else to do what we say, not what we do. But it doesn’t work that way. Especially for Christians.

Christians are to be a step above this world. Romans 12:2 tells us Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Too many of us listen to actors and actresses and abide by their wishes over God’s. Funny how they call Donald Trump a racist, yet in 2016, no African-American actors were nominated for an Academy Award. Looks to me like the Hollywood Elite should clean their own house before they try to clean someone else’s.

The same with Christians. Remember, we’re to remove the log from our eye first. We should always change the person in a mirror before we try to change someone else.

And as a Christian, the only voice you should listen to is God’s. He’ll never steer you wrong, and there will never be anything hypocritical about it.
