From Eden to Jesus

A child is born in a manger. A humble beginning for our Savior. God came to Earth in the form of a child, to bring forgiveness to the world.

Sin began when Adam and Eve listened to the serpent in Eden. People point their finger at Eve for getting her and Adam tossed out of Eden. They tend to forget God chose a woman as a vessel to bring His son into the world. We see this in Luke 1:26-27 where it says, Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.

If Eve messed up, Mary made things right. God could have just had Jesus come as a full-grown man, instead, He used a girl and humble beginnings. Eve screwed up in Eden, but Mary repaired it with Jesus.

People rarely look at it as Mary fixing Eve’s mistake, but Jesus’ birth did just that. Eve didn’t have enough willpower to fight temptation, yet Mary had such an intense faith, she was willing to go along with God’s plan.

Imagine her fear and at the thought of her friends and family discovering her pregnancy. This was a time when women were to be virgins when they married, or they could be shunned by their families. Even killed. Yet this girl stayed faithful to God. What bravery.

The Bible gives us a story of one woman, Eve, who didn’t listen to God and brought sin into this world. It goes on to tell the story of another woman, Mary, who trusted God completely. And because of it, we were given two of the greatest gifts–forgiveness and mercy.
