The Protection of His Armor

This week has been a struggle. I’ve seen so many ways the devil is attacking people just in my area alone.

I’m trying to get out of debt but I received a notice from my homeowner’s insurance company telling me I needed to get my soffits repaired. So far I’ve been quoted $2,600.00. Then after three years of sobriety, someone I know started to drink again. And two teen boys driving to church one night died in a car accident. That was the first of many tragic deaths this past week.

And if you look at our country, there is hatred spewing from all sides. As Christians, we need to be aware of when the devil is attacking.

And right now he’s coming on strong. The only way to protect ourselves is with God. Ephesians 6:13-17 tells us to …put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

This verse tells us that God’s protection comes from truth, righteousness, and faith. Truth is so important because a lie is usually the first step toward sin. In this verse, there is strength in the truth that God is in charge. The righteousness of Jesus keeps us safe and guards our hearts against lies thrown from Satan. A deep faith will keep you from having any doubts about God’s love.

The reason we must put on the whole armor of God is to withstand evil. We don’t war against people, but against a spiritual hierarchy of invisible power. – Stormie Omartian, Christian Author

The evil one will toss anything at us to get us to doubt God’s love.  There is nothing he likes better than to see a Christian turn away from Jesus. Christians need to anchor themselves in Christ. To do so, we need to read the Bible daily and fill our minds with God’s word.

Stand firm and strong in your faith in order to keep from falling for any of the devil’s schemes. These days there are too many ways to fall. Too many temptations to keep you from holding fast to God’s hand. I pray for God’s protection over each and every one of you so that Satan cannot find a way in.

If you or someone you know is in need of prayer this week, please leave a comment. We’d be more than happy to pray for you. And if this post moved you in some way, please feel free to share it.
