According to www.Christianitytoday.com, one in five churchgoers say they have never read their Bible. And for the rest of us who have read at least once, one in four has not read the Bible in over one year. Yet nine out of ten Christian homes are said to have a Bible. Christians believe the Bible is God’s divine word, yet we ignore it. Joshua 1:8 tells us to, Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Too many of us allow our ministers to tell us what God is saying. But sometimes God has a special message for you. In order to receive His word, you must read the Bible yourself. And if you don’t read the Bible, you can fall victim to false doctrine.
We should put aside each day to read some portion of the Bible. We must read His word and allow Him to guide our lives.
A good way to get started is to use a guide. There are online sites that tell you how to “Read the Bible in a Year,” “Read the Bible in 52 weeks,” etc. There are even 6-month readings if you want to get through quicker.
If you’re not sure you want to commit to the entire Bible, how about doing Psalms in one month using the guidelines from Bibleplan.org. at http://bibleplan.org/plans/psalms-in-a-month/

There is something new to find by listening to what God has to say to you through His written word. It’s time to stop making excuses and dust off that book on the shelf. Make 2018, the year you read the Bible.
Remember, where you put your time is where your heart is also. Shouldn’t your heart be on your loving Father instead of some singing competition? Don’t wait another day to get started. Let me know if you’re going to read your Bible and keep me abreast of your progress. There’s nothing like a cheering section to keep you motivated.
And if you are in need of prayer, please let me know in the comment section below.
I became a daily Bible reader when I started using the free YouVersion Bible App. It is a great accountability tool and your friends can join you in many of the devotionals. I now start and end my day with God in His Word. It is changing my life!
Awesome idea, Mary.
