If Children are a Gift from God, Grandchildren are…

I’ve been watching my granddaughter once a week, the past couple of weeks. Talk about a bundle of energy. When I had my children, I couldn’t imagine loving anyone more than I did them. I was wrong. My granddaughter has my heart.

In Mark 9:37, Jesus tells us that “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.” Children are very precious in God’s eyes. Too bad some people don’t treat them as the gift they are.

Too often we read news stories about child abuse and trafficking of children. Then there is the murder of children and abortion. We must treat our children better than we do, especially if we call ourselves Christians. We should show them the ways of God so they grow to know and love Jesus. What better gift can you give someone than everlasting life.

Children can make you smile and bring joy to your life, just as Jesus can. I believe they are the special gift God gives to make us happy.  I just wish he’d given us as much energy as he did them so we can keep up.

I brought children into this dark world because it needed the light that only a child can bring. – Liz Armbruster

We must celebrate the joy that is children. Enjoy their laughter and sticky smiles; love the silliness that is being a child. It never lasts long. Before you know it, they’re sullen, angry teenagers. And isn’t it better to be walking through a store listening to a child sing at the top of their lungs instead of hearing one cry because it is tired or having a tantrum over a toy?

In the comment section below, finish the sentence: If children are a gift from God, grandchildren are …

In my opinion, they are the greatest prize you can receive for raising children. Raise them in the way of God, and they will bless you daily.

If you or someone you know is in need of prayer, please let me know. I’ll be happy to pray for the situation.
