Two by Two

God put the animals in the ark two-by-two. Okay, so how’d the insects get here? The only reason I ask is I am riddled with mosquito bites. Every time I itch, I wonder why God chose to create these pesky creatures. What is their purpose? Same with cockroaches. Both seem useless.

mosquitoA female mosquito can live up to 56 days
while a male only 10.

I know we’re supposed to love all creatures, but these two are just annoying. Psalm 50:10-11 tells us For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the hills, and all that moves in the field is mine. God created every person, animal, and, yes, insect. Because of such, He loves them all, and so should we.

I know it’s not easy at times to love everything here on earth, especially the creepy crawlies with eight legs, but if we love God, we should love whom or what He loves. While I don’t see any use for a mosquito, I’m sure some fish find a great deal of use for them. As in food. If they were to disappear, it would upset the aquatic ecology on the earth, so there really is a use for them.

Love the creatures for the sake of God and not for themselves. You will never become angry or impatient if you love them for the sake of God. Humanity is not perfect. There are imperfections in every human being, and you will always become unhappy if you look toward the people themselves. But if you look toward God, you will love them and be kind to them, for the world of God is the world of perfection and complete mercy. – Abdu’l Baha

Sometimes I wonder the same thing about certain people on Earth. Why were they created? Some commit such atrocious crimes; I think they should immediately be struck by a lightning bolt. But God has them here for a reason.  And as such, I should love these people as well.

I just find it hard, especially where children are concerned.  I’d rather deal with a mosquito than someone who harms a child, but God’s word says I’m to love even those type of monsters. As you can see, I still have a lot of work to do.

I’m sure there are those, whether human, animal, or creature that you find detestable.  So together we need to get in God’s word and try to lessen our hatred. And while I do, I’ll sit here and scratch.

If you or someone you know is need of prayer, please let me know and I’ll pray for the situation.
