Labor Day Prayer

We need to work in order to survive. But in 1894, the United States government gave us a day to celebrate the working man. As such, I’d like to share the following Labor Day Prayer with you.

Labor dayThe unemployment rate is at an all-time low of 3.9%.

Dear Lord,

Please bless the workers of this country. The people who get up early or stay late to accomplish tasks requested of them. I pray for their rest and relaxation today. And those who do not get to rest, please let them know how appreciative we are of their hard work.

Thank You Lord for being an example to us of hard work. So many of us get discouraged when we are doing what we consider normal jobs instead of our passion or the mission You have placed in our hearts. Let us remember that You too worked as a carpenter until Your time came.

Bless and keep safe our emergency responders who will be out protecting and taking care of us. Too often they find themselves in danger from the people they have to deal with and the cars on the road.

And Lord, bless those looking for work. It’s easy to get discouraged. I’ve seen it in my daughter, Jessica. Hold her and others out there feeling desperate. Remind them of John 16:33 where Jesus tells us “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” And they too can have peace with His love.

And for those with jobs, thank You for giving us money to keep food on our tables. And thank You for good employers. I know I’ve been very blessed in that regard these last sixteen years.

Lord, bless those who stay home with their children as their full-time job. Remind them that no greater gift is to care for a child.

Lord, thank You for all You do in our lives and continue to show us Your love in our daily lives.

In Jesus name,

Amen.

Please feel free to share this prayer if you’d like. If you or someone you know is in need of prayer, let me know, and I’ll be happy to pray for the situation.
