How to Give Once You’re Gone

My website has had a facelift. More like a complete lift. Check it out and let me know what you think in the comment section below. Now on to the blog.

How to Give Once You’re Gone

My daughter and I got into a discussion the other day about organ donation. I’m not sure what led to it, but I made sure she was a donor. I’m a big proponent of organ donation. However, some people I know have told me they don’t like the idea. They find organ donation to be creepy.

donateOne person can save up to
eight lives by giving their organs.

I believe if you can help people once you’re gone, why would you not, especially if you’re a Christian? What better way to glorify God than by allowing someone else to use your kidneys or eyes once you are finished with them.

I know a lot of people fear the doctors might pull the plug sooner just to get at your parts. This is not true. While the doctors who do the donor surgery are there, so is your doctor. He is to make sure that you are gone before your death is called. And only then do they prepare you for the surgery.

Another reason Christians don’t like to donate is they feel they will need their Earthly body when Jesus returns. Remember, Paul tells us in 1  Corinthians 15:42-44, So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. Your earthly body is not your spiritual body.

Don’t think of organ donations as giving up part of yourself to keep a total stranger alive.  It’s really a total stranger giving up almost all of themselves to keep part of you alive.  ~Author Unknown

When you die, your spirit no longer needs the body that it has lived in. So, why not give others a chance at life? There are so many wonderful stories out there of people who received donated organs. Here’s just one of many: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFT31LlJhwU

If you’d like to be an organ donor, you can register with your local DMV. Most have it available online for you to fill out the form. Here’s Florida’s:  https://www.dmv.org/fl-florida/organ-donor.php

If you or someone you know is in need of prayer, please let me know in the comment section below. I’ll be happy to pray for the situation.
