Another five people were killed in Illinois this past week. It is sad how so many care so little for the sanctity of life. Then we have the abortion issue. Several states are adding to their laws. Funny how the latter issue gets more attention from Christians.
As you can see, a ban on assault rifles did little
to stop mass shootings. More must be done.
All over social media, I saw posts about the abortion issue, but nothing about the mass shooting. Not even a meme for us to pray. It’s almost as if those lives don’t matter to us as much. However, they should be just as important as those in a mother’s womb.
Why is it that as humans we appear to pick and choose whose life is important? To God, they all are. And as Christians, they should be important to us as well. And I know to most, they are. But when it comes to mass shootings, we feel helpless to not only understand them but to stop them.
So comes the question, how do we stop all this killing? One way is with prayer. Another is by introducing those who are lost to Jesus. Ezekiel 33:8-9 says that when you do not speak out to dissuade them from their ways, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. But if you do warn the wicked person to turn from their ways and they do not do so, they will die for their sin, though you yourself will be saved. It is important that you show Jesus to those in your life in order to save them from sin. If you do, then the choice is theirs whether to obey God. Your choice is whether to discuss the Lord or not.

If you do not understand the Golden Rule, which is the most important law in the universe, then you are in trouble. All other rules in your holy books combined — are not as valuable as the ONE Golden Rule. Take two minutes to learn the most crucial law in life. Killing another human comes with the highest penalty, regardless of how you justify it. All life is sacred. – Suzy Kassem, poet

All life is special to God. Babies in the womb and those in the workplace. This country is in dire need of prayer. Too often people feel the need to kill when things don’t go their way. That is not how humans should behave. We should love one another, care for others, and protect those who need protecting. But too often kids are raised more with violent video games than with church. They never learn the best way to get through a trying time is through Jesus Christ. And that my friend is the fault of Christians.
If you or someone you know is in need of prayer, please tell me about the situation in the comment section below and I’ll be happy to pray for the situation.
I’m so glad you posted this, Kathryn. It’s been so hard to find words over all of the bad things that have been happening. All the hate. I knew one of the victims in the Illinois shooting. He went to my high school, graduated with my sister. It’s so heartbreaking. Every lost life is.
