The Funny Side of Life

Have you ever had one of those days you were on remote control? Doing the same old thing, nothing exciting going on, everything just mediocre then out of the blue, God jolts you with something funny? It might come from a humorous meme on Facebook, or like me the other day, at the bank. The woman in the drive-thru in front of me was talking on her phone. She was so distracted, she forgot to send the money carrier up through the shoot. She finally did then when finished, she drove off with the carrier. Before she drove from the parking lot, she jumped out of her car and ran up, a huge smile on her face.

The funniest part of the whole ordeal—I wasn’t the person who did it. I’m always afraid I’m going to take off with the carrier or leave the gas nozzle still in my tank when I drive off.

We hear stories like that all the time and think how could anyone be so dumb? Maybe God humbled that person just to make someone smile. Not only did I see the humor in the bank incident, but so did the woman.

God loves to see us happy. Unfortunately, too often we don’t see the humor in things. Only the bad side. Proverbs 17:22 says A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. I don’t ever want to have a crushed spirit.

A keen sense of humor helps us to overlook the unbecoming, understand the unconventional, tolerated the unpleasant, overcome the unexpected, and outlast the unbearable. – Billy Graham

The more we see the funny side of life, the better our lives will be. Look around. There’re things to make us smile everywhere from dogs walking their owners to children mispronouncing words.

We need to find the joy around us or our lives will be mediocre, and eventually, we could become unhappy. Your loving Father wants nothing more than for you to enjoy life. Laugh off embarrassing moments and laugh off your anger. Laugh at funny pictures and humorous animals. After all, there’s a reason God put together the platypus with all those leftover parts.

If you or someone you know is in need of prayer, please let me know. I’ll be happy to pray for the situation.
